Ironman Wisconsin is one of America’s toughest Ironman events. This race features a mass swim start, an extremely challenging bike course, and finishes with an exhilarating marathon route. 45,000+ fans line the streets of Madison and surrounding cities, bringing excitement and energy to the race.
At Team World Vision, we are building a special Team for our FIRST Ironman event. Founded in 2006, the program has already become a recognized leader in charitable endurance running events. Part of Team World Vision’s success can be attributed to our culture of challenging athletes to do BIG things and make a HUGE impact! Leadership is engaged and also participates with the team. This event will be lead by Billy Downs; an 8-time Ironman finisher.
In Africa they say, “Water is Life.”About 768 million people in the world lack access to safe drinking water. It is the number one preventable cause of death in the world. Women and children often walk 6 miles or more each way two to three times a day to gather water that isn’t even safe to drink, water that could kill them. Through Team World Vision, $50 will provide clean water for one person for a lifetime!
Race and Provide clean water for one person for every mile of the race! We are challenging our athletes to do something BIG and have a Huge Impact. Specifically, we are challenging them to race the Ironman (140.6 miles) and minimally provide clean water for one person for every mile. The fundraising minimum stands at $3,500, however the goal is to raise $50/mile ($7030) for clean, fresh, drinking water in Africa.
